The County Clerk in Kiowa County acts as the ex officio Register of Deeds. This is the single office in the county where land records get filed and stored. Warranty deeds, quit claim deeds, mortgages, liens, easements, and other property documents all go through this office. Once a deed is recorded, it becomes part of the public record and anyone can view it. You do not need to own the property or show a reason for looking at the records. Oklahoma law under Title 16, Section 16 makes recorded conveyances constructive notice to all future buyers, lenders, and creditors. That is why recording a deed right after closing matters so much.
