Search Mustang Deed Records
Mustang deed records are filed with the Canadian County Clerk in El Reno. Canadian County runs its own online search portal that is separate from the statewide OKCountyRecords system. You can look up Mustang property documents for free using the county's name search tool, which works best with asterisk wildcards after both the last name and first name. The system covers deeds, mortgages, liens, plats, and all other land records filed for Mustang properties. Whether you need a warranty deed, a mortgage release, or a plat map, the Canadian County Clerk office is where those records live. The portal also allows searches by subdivision, section-township-range, and document number.
Mustang Deed Records Overview
Canadian County Clerk and Mustang Deed Records
The Canadian County Clerk is the sole office for Mustang deed records. County Clerk Karalea D. Parnell manages the land records division from 201 N Choctaw Ave, El Reno, OK 73036. The phone number is (405) 262-1070. Fax is (405) 262-3389. Email the land records team at landrecords@canadiancounty.org. Hours run Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
All Mustang deed filings go through this one office. The clerk records warranty deeds, quit claim deeds, mineral deeds, mortgages, releases, liens, plats, and oil and gas leases. Canadian County does not use the statewide OKCountyRecords.com portal. Instead, it operates its own search system at search.cogov.net. A search on the statewide site will not return Canadian County results. You have to use the county portal directly.

How to Search Mustang Deed Records
Canadian County gives you four ways to look up Mustang deed records. The name search is the most common. Type the last name with an asterisk at the end. Do the same for the first name. For example, "Jones*" and "M*" will pull up all last names starting with Jones where the first name starts with M. You can filter results by document type and narrow the date range.
The subdivision search works well for Mustang neighborhoods. Enter the subdivision name and optionally add a lot or block number. Many newer Mustang developments are platted, so this search method can be very useful. The section-township-range search covers unplatted rural land around Mustang. The document info search is for when you already know an instrument number or book and page.
Keep your searches narrow if you use broad instrument types. The county website warns that searching all mortgages over several months may freeze your browser because of the high volume of results. Stick to one-month windows for common document types.
Mustang Deed Records Filing Fees
Filing fees for Mustang deed records follow the state schedule under Title 28 O.S. Section 32. The first page costs $8.00 plus a $10.00 preservation fee, totaling $18.00. Each added page runs $2.00. A standard three-page warranty deed for a Mustang home costs $22.00.
Non-conforming documents have higher fees. The first page jumps to $25.00 in Canadian County. Additional pages cost $10.00 each. Documents are non-conforming if they have wrong margins, poor legibility, or exceed the 8.5 by 14 inch size limit. Plats cost $10.00 for one block or less. More than one block is $25.00. Copies of recorded documents cost $1.00 per page. Certified copies add a certification fee.
Note: All deeds filed for Mustang property must include an Alien Land Ownership Affidavit per 60 O.S. Section 121, with forms available at the Attorney General's website.
Mustang Deed Filing Requirements
Every deed filed for Mustang property must meet state format standards. The paper cannot exceed 8.5 by 14 inches. Top margins need 2 inches. All other sides need at least 1 inch. Text must be clear, in English, with proper notarization. The grantee's mailing address must be on the deed. Original signatures are required. The legal description has to identify the specific parcel.
Under Title 67 of the Oklahoma Statutes, the county clerk serves as the ex officio register of deeds. Each document gets an instrument number and a book-and-page reference. The clerk stores at least two copies in separate locations. Documentary stamps or an exemption stamp go on every deed. Under Title 16 O.S. Section 16, recording a deed creates constructive notice to all future buyers and creditors.
